"THE CONFRONTATION" ITINERARY

The Museum LA PERCEE DU BOCAGE is a stopping place of "The Confrontation" Itinerary of the D-Day Landings and the Battle of Normandy. This itinerary follows the hard fought southward advance of the Allied troops as they consolidated the beachhead.

On the evening of D-Day, the Canadians and the British moved inland off the beaches, reaching the outskirts of Caen.

The plan was for the British to keep up constant pressure on Caen, drawing the German troops eastwards in order to allow the American troops to mount a westward offensive.

The itinerary takes you through the main operations, by the end of which several strategic villages such Villers-Bocage, Tilly-sur-Seulles, Saint-Martin-des-Besaces, Vire, Aunay-sur-Odon were liberated.
